I've searched the internet, couldn't find anything. Anyone else?

I'd honestly like to see a MRS-1 model. Might be a neat addition.

So I was thinking about the wheelslip problem, and I thought about rubber traction tires. If those don't work (or they kill the power flow) then you could ballast the loco. I've never ballasted a steam loco, but I've done it before on diesels.

They're Beautiful!! It's too bad the only models of this type of EMD you can get is from Broadway imports, and those are pricey. and I don't have that much money to drop on a model train. I love this hobby, but not that much lol.

I had a similar issue with a DCC 4-8-4. Had a cracked gear. Had a hobby shop here in town replace it (with genuine Bachmann parts) and now it runs fine. Maybe the same problem, and maybe not.

As for the wheelslip, I don't know. I'll think about it.

Haha, yes, the CF7 was quite interesting. And ugly, but thats just my opinion.

On the topic of diesels, what are your opinions about the EMD MRS-1?

My father is from Missouri and loves the old MoPac. I need to get some of their steamers.

No, you can't paint over "through the heart of Dixie". I'm a huge Seaboard fan, but the Espee takes the no. 1 spot for me. Then there's the Milwaukee Road, Erie Lackawanna, AT&SF, C&NW, Pere Marquette, and the Katy.

Oh, and of course, the A-OK railroad (not a fallen flag, but eh). SKOL (South Kansas and Oklahoma), ending in my hometown, also holds a (small but) special place in my heart.

I'd love to see a few more models of these railroads, but as you said, Bachmann is not in the business to grant all our wishes.

Are there clips along the sides of the shell holding it to the frame?

And this is why I don't like tenders connected to the loco with wires.......

I've heard about them.

I'd like to see some more MoPac locomotives on Bachmann. Everyone else (Athearn, Walthers, etc) are beating them in multiple places, i.e. road name selection, locomotive selection...

I need to stop complaining, heh. or just switch to walthers/athearn.

Interesting. Can you post pictures of the pickups on here? If not, that's fine. I just don't see any on the loco, only the tender. I may be mistaken, though.

General Discussion / Southern Pacific question
February 08, 2023, 09:41:05 AM
If you're a Southern Pacific fan, what piece of rolling stock or motive power would you like to see made by Bachmann? They already have an SP GP40, a few different steam locos, and a 70-tonner, but that's it.

I, personally, would like to see an SD70ACe UP 1996 (Southern Pacific heritage unit) or a Dash 9 with the bloody nose and speed lettering.

HO / EMD E3 & E4 Diesel-Electric Streamliners
February 08, 2023, 09:19:42 AM
Sooooo..... random question for the ENTIRE board.

Who would like to see...
  • EMD E3 A and B units in HO scale in MoPac Blue, ACL (Atlantic Coast Line), SF Warbonnet, and KCS colors,
  • E4 A/B units for the SAL (Seaboard Air Line)
  • E1A/E1B units in B&O colors?

I've noticed that only one company (Broadway Limited, so $$$$) makes E1A, E1B, and E3 units. No one makes the E4.

For reference, here is a SAL Orange Blossom Special E4 A unit.

Here is a SF Warbonnet E3 A-B setup for a passenger train.

Here is a KCS E3 A unit, illustrated. (No color pictures of a real KCS E3, only Black/White pics)

Here is a B&O E1A

Here is a MoPac E3

Here is an ATL E3

The only exterior differences between the E3 and E4 are the headlights, and the E4 has a door on the nose.

I hope y'all consider this. If I get enough "Yes"s, I'll contact Bachmann with a product suggestion.
Hopefully, if they do decide on it, Bachmann would post them at prices similar to their other HO diesels.
