I have to disagree.
First I have to say that i am only interested in the 0n30 section.
I should have been more specific.
The second edition Porter was published in the 2011 catalog a year ago.
It is still missing in that section.

I agree it's a very nice classical looking american lokomotive.
It looks very tiny next to my two K27's
I have transplanted the sound decoder, from my Porter, with a real speaker (1")
looks and sounds even beter than before.

Yes, i'm using The Lenz LZV100 station and the LH90 handheld controller.
It works excellent.
The standard Bachmann decoders have one drawback , no back EMF.
The OEM sound decoders in the Bachmann loco's are Soundtraxx Tsunami.
Some old OEM ST's don't have a full CV load.
In my 2-6-6-2, fireman fred is not available for instance.
But in the new Porter he is.

Dear Bachman
I'm looking for the Tsunami manual specific for the Porter.
The CD has a generic manual but does not comply with the porter sound decoder.
Neither the official Soundtraxx Tsunami manual.
There are cv's that are not functional in the P. decoder.
Is there a list, somewhere, with the appropriate CV's for the porter?

My 0n30 collection;

3 Davenports.......1 original, 1 customised to steam loco, 1 is going to be converted with a Backwoods vertical boiler kit.
2 Porters 2-4-0.......1 old and 1 new with sound
2 rail trucks (running)
3 americans.....2 inside frame and 1 outside frame
5 connies.........1 converted to Mikado and 1 BLI Bumble bee.
3 articulated....1 with sound and 1 converted with side tanks
2 ten wheelers
1 mikado K27 (MMI)
several H0 conversions
and last but not least a  Hershey streetcar.
i'm not counting the rolling stock.
The last item i received was the new skidder.......NICE! needs a bit of weathering.

What is missing in the Bachmann collection is a medium size diesel shunter
A D&RGW Connie would also be nice.

mabloodhound you are correct , it will work if you use it in the electronic circuit. but not outside.
I was thinking the old way........

1: where are you going to stow it? You will need at least a 1000 uF/25V C. they are big!
2: where are you going to connect the C? Not in front of the decoder , you will distroy the digital signal.
Over the motor you will need a bi polar C (expensive if availlable) because of the polarity switch when going forwards or backwards.
You can't use an electrolytic C ( the one used with the Tsunami) because it has polarity.

It's mostly possitive.

I don't know about the backend but i had problems with the small gears in the front gearbox.
After contacting and explaining the problem, Bachmann sent me an unpainted railtruck for spare parts.

I removed the restriction pin on the chassis near the back wheel of my old edition porter , and it will do a 15cm radius without any problems.

TFS has new Porters for sale.
