Dear Friend,

Please check with "TOC" a forum member who installs battery powered remote control systems.  He can fill you in about all this.  I use Bachmann track for my indoor running of G scale stuff.  For a planned garden railroad I will use Aluminum track.  Llagas Creek track is American made.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Mark, et al,

If you can find out who your local Sam's Club buyer is, he might cooperate with you and provide information. That is exactly what I did in good old Altooona 3 years ago.

General Discussion / Re: Oxidizing of rails

Dear Bob,

Very nice site!  Someone down there has done a whole bunch of work to get the layout like that!  Thanks for the tip about cleaning the rails, etc. My friend Ted's son works for CRC and just loves that stuff.  Have you ever tried "CorrosionX" for lubrication in extreme conditions.  If you contact their website they will send you a sample.  It is supposed to be superior for marine conditions. Perhaps it would work well on a RR, presuming it is plastic compatible.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Jim, et al,

I used Jim's trick, published here several weeks ago, on my O-scale that is on the porch, overwinter in central Pennsylvania. The track got really dark and cruddy. I cleaned it with LGB smoke fluid, then used Labelle 107, as I did not have 108.  One drop on each rail for 35 feet really made those babies slip!  With the sound and smoke turned on it was impressive!  My boys and I got a kick out of it. This was 5 weeks ago and it is still running strong!  Thanks, Jim!

Dear Mr. B, et al,

Sorry for posting the price. Did not think, ergo I erred. Perhaps that is why I have a size 12 mouth, from inserting foot.

Best Wishes,

Dear Tim,

Terrific answer!  I will consider doing as you suggest when I take the plunge into DCC.

Not to waste your time, but have you any links comparing Digitrax, CVP, NCE, Dynamis, etc.  I do not have the opportunity to try these systems hands on, and it is making my choice very difficult.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Gene,

Good point. Reiterated many times on the LS forum. However, how does one know which is the newer version if one buys online? Just a theoritical question. Our dear Old Crustacean, and others of his ilk can figure this stuff out. I, however, am a different kind of cat and get snookered every so often. I did buy some very  nice older diesel engines from a friend, and am assured of their quality, E7's and 8's, U-boats, a few Stewarts, stuff like that, and much rolling stock.

HO / Re: Motor for 2-10-0 Russian

Dear Lanny,

Here is a Bowser link to trade in the old DC-71  motor for a DCC friendly upgrade:

http://www.bowser-trains.com/hoother/motors.pdf

I do not think there is a HH replacement motor for the 2-10-0, unfortunately.  I found a link for a service in PA, I think that installs the HH for a nominal fee and ensures that it works.  If Mr. B. or Hunt will allow, I will post the link with telephone number, and there is a fee displayed.

If not please contact me via e-mail for the link.

Best Wishes,

Jack
