Dear Sheldon,

Roger that. For the life of me I cannot fathom their resistence. Perhaps it is fear of the unknown, or loss of control.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Friends,

Forgive my memory lapses, but I thought Greg E. was a regular contributing member already. I remember many posts from him in past years.

When I tried PWM for my Annie, I got a similar hum, but it ran OK. Someone here stated PWM is not for Bachmann products, esp LS. Ergo, not ergot, I stopped that blunder. Did not seem to hurt anything.

BTW, Greg, that is one nice and "clean" website you have. Wish my office looked that good!

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Tony,

Thank you for the prompt response. I am fairly computer illiterate, and therefore do not see things until they bump me in the nose!  Your advice is greatly appreciated. Will contact you if I cannot figure it out.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Train,

I bought my Aristo 27MHz TE from Trainworld for $40-50 under list price. Atlantic Central uses this and I based my decision after talking to him. I believe with the newer version he does not have issues with control from a distance, inside of course. I may build a battery car to use on one of my LS engines to see how it works. Airwire seems to be a good unit. CVP comes recommended by several people whom I respect. The RCS seems to be a good unit, but I have no experience with it and cannot find (easily) an online installation procedure.

Tony Walsham,

If you read this could you please provide a link that explains installation?

Thank you and Best Wishes,

Jack

Sorry,

That topic is:  "radio control for HO" in the General category by Atlantic Central.  I think you will find it to be enlightening.

I believe Atlantic Central would be the TE expert on this board. Would suggest you read his thread on wireless control for HO in the General area.

Dear Trainman,

Have you any thoughts how Airwire would do in a head to head competition with RCS or TE?  The reason I ask is I know where there is an Annie with Sierra sound board, RCS and a battery car for a good price used.  I recently bought a TE for use with an HO DC system.  I have no idea which would be considered the best one to use.  I know this is a vague question but I have to start somewhere.  Too, everyone has an opinion, as they say.

Dear Sheldon,

I should think a digital video recorder would work well.  It should be able to be uploaded via a USB port to U-Tube or a similar format, then linked in a post on this forum.  Don't forget to smile for the birdie!

If anyone has expertise with this, could you please refine my rather cursory comments.  Thank you.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Sheldon,

Probably a dumb question, but could it be helpful to all concerned to videotape a portion of the mtg to see operation in action?  As a visual learner it helps me a lot to see it up close and personal.  Thank you.  If you folks cannot post a video, I will just have to see it in my mind's eye!

Dear Friends,

Agree with statements from Bob and Sheldon.  In my little business, I, too am distressed by low profits.  However, in Altoona, "Rust Belt USA," some days I am glad to make any profit.

Years ago, the orthopedic company I worked for had 10% sustained profit, which was considered to be excellent.  I believe most American companies work on 5-10% profit.  Anyone who reports higher profits is probably kidding or using funny accounting, IMHO.

Comments anyone?

Best Wishes,

Jack

P.S. So I do not hijack this thread, our two LHS's have different clientele and staff attitudes.  The bigger one has high prices, will be rude if you ask for an Internet match or what he would be willing to do, and rarely says thank you. Clients ask me all the time to match internet prices, and I will do what I can, so am not offended.  Anything to stay in business!  The other guy is smaller, has less inventory, and usually has to order what you want, but discounts most everything.  Guess who gets most folks' business!  Every business has to make profit the best one can.  For me, it is exceptional customer service that keeps them coming back in the face of stiff competition.

Dear Friends,

Please excuse if this has been posted before.  Anyway, it does not hurt to inform the younger modelers, me included, of the common names of the steamers.  This is a nicely organized link, IMHO.

Boy Oh Boy,

A'int that Jim Banner one sharp dude!

I will remember that when I computerize my upcoming layout.

Suggest you direct this question toward Atlantic Central since he also uses computerized block control.  He may have some comments to add to Jim's.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Sheldon,

Make that 1.5!  After I solve some personal problems, I will be diving into this full bore!

To our other Friends,

Sheldon sent me the schematic, and it is beautifully done.  I do not understand circuits one whit, but with help from my son and his electronics teacher, I should prevail.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Sheldon,

I have a Proto E8 in Erie Lackawanna and it is a beautiful runner.  I know where there is an A-B set at a good price.  I was pondering a purchase to run an ABA.  Now it looks like you have prompted me to reconsider, dang nab it!  There is just too much moolah going into trains these days!

It sure beats havingagirlfriend!

Dear Tony,

I get your drift, but hope your conclusions are not the case, since I would hope the posters here would be equitable and realize certain experts got that way from years of experience and doing the job.  In Dave's case, I presume he was told to keep mum, and being the good soldier he is, complied.

My hat's off to Bachmann, Mr. B and Dave for being the good friends they are.

Best Wishes,

Jack
