It was created by Ronald Halma from the Netherlands.
For as far as ik know it's 0n30.
I have fallowed it's creation on a Dutch American trains forum.
I also seen it in real life at the Ontrax exhibition at the national rail museum in Utrecht.

It's in Dutch, but here is the original thread.

I would clean it up and keep it as a curiosity.

I have used a TamValley DCC shuttle unit for a few years now.
It's a very nice piece of electronics.
It not only comes with the shuttle function, it also has a midsection stop you can choose to incorporate.

I use a rubber sanding block used for sued shoos.
Works fine.

Nice job Jonathan.
It's a pity that you can see the seam on the stack.
Maybe hide it with a lightning deflector.

Shoot me , i'm out of options.
Maybe some moving pictures on Yooptube. might clarify your situation?

Strange.
Just for fun, to amuse a silly dutchman, take a caboose and couple it at the end.
A caboose has a bit of bracking power because of the pickup's for lighting underneath it should pull the couplers tight.
See what happens.

Nice layout!  :)

I'm looking into ways to chemically speed up the oxidation as it looks way too polished for what it is...

Apply a solution of copper sulfate and then heat it up with a torch until the copper sulfate turns black.
Then clean the excess sulfate (green) off and repeat that process several times until the brass is a very dark brown,
Clean and wax.

I just had a look underneath my Jackson Sharp passenger cars.
Maybe long shank couplers would do the trick.
Then you have more side way travel on the couplers.

depends on the motor.
I would say , start with the default values and the tweak one cv at a time.
See what happens.
And don't forget to write down what you did.

I had the same problem.
Jerky movement.
It had something to do with......
CV 209,210,212,213,219 and 10

On30 / Re: New gears Railtruck On30 bad result.

A small history about one of my two rail trucks.
10 years ago i bought the #1.
It ran awful and i mailed Mr.B telling them so.
I didn't know about the splitgear syndrome then.
They sent me a complete unpainted new one for parts so i could repair the #1.
It ran like clockwork and i put it away on the shelf.
Then the splitgear issue erupted on the net and i ordered two repair kits just in case.
A month ago i decided to run #1 again, no joy , splitgear.
just by standing around.
I tried to fix the gears and demolished one set.
I took the second set and it moved with a lot of gear grinding from the diff.
It is sitting on it's shelf again as a static model :(
