Large / Layouts

Sitting here wondering I was curious does anybody base their railways on the real thing or do you just do whatever with it? I am new to this and have a HO scale railroad so I have some experience and am only 15 years old so I might ask a lot of questions.

I have seen on Youtube that New Bright trains will work on Bachmann Track along side Bachmann Big haulers. Do you think that these are the same gauge size? If so please explain why.

HO / Re: Bachmann DCC Chip

The Steam Engine is a Bachmann the Diesel I am getting is a Life Like the wires on any Life Like Diesel goes from a power supply truck then to a motor truck everything else is dead weight.

On another note I can't solder but I am taking lessons from a friend. My mechanical abilities are I can pretty much take apart a RC car and put the RC chip into a Large scale Christmas Train. I do Understand the basic electronics and the NMRA wiring rules for DCC the decoder I have was a second hand and I didn't get any instructions. The Life Like Trains at least the one I have runs 3 wires Lights, positive, and Negative the Negative is the base for the whole locomotive.

HO / Bachmann DCC Chip
March 17, 2014, 05:49:29 PM
I am working on a single loop of track with three turnouts so I can extend later on I am 15 and have little experience had bought a DC train set, and a DCC Remote from a Yard sale and am getting a life like Diesel from yet another yard sale and could use some advice I was told by a BNSF Modeler that the Life Like trains can't be DCC because they are just two Basic and I own one and I do agree that it is Basic. So My question is should I buy a DCC chip for My 0-6-0 steam Locomotive and leave the Analog open or is their a way to convert my Diesel please let me know.

Large / Custom Engines
March 16, 2014, 04:13:30 PM
So I had a thought looking through the Bachmann Parts for Large scale trying to find a good pair of trucks to replace on my New Bright train and I came across a 4-6-0 Chassis with everything at least I think everything and was wondering could you build your own custom engine if you bought the Chassis and the Tender Chassis could you build a custom Engine if so I had a plan for a Back to the Future Time train. If not I would like to know if it was possible.

I recommend Amazon.com they have quite a bit of Large scale stuff and might have what your looking for if not than I don't know unless you went to a train convention.

You see I wouldn't mind fixing the cars with Bachmann trucks seeing as I also said I wanted to upgrade it I upgraded it with an RC chip. To be completely honest the tender and the passenger car lost both trucks. My Caboose met an unfortunate accident during the Christmas of 2012 and I was only able to salvage the light system and am going to make a custom car to replace the Caboose my only issue that I believe I will face is connecting the tender to the locomotive after the upgrades are made. I hate to say it but I don't trust Ebay and have had problems in the past and have never ordered from Ebay since. Lastly the trucks that Jay showed me to look at are the wrong ones I have an older version of the New Bright train set and has had it since I was five years old.

I am a little knew to this and I have a question would Bachmann Freight trucks work for my New Bright Santa's Village Express. The reason why I still have this without trucks is sentimental value. I just want to upgrade it. So please would it work.

Look Chaz here is the thing I have looked several times for the Gordon Express coaches on both Amazon.com and Ebay.com Amazon had Gordon's Brake coach. Ebay had a picture for Gordon's Express coach however it was a piece of 2x4 after I got it. Face it the only way we are going to get Gordon's Express coaches back is if we keep talking about it and Bachmann brings them back.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Discontinued Models (2013)

You know Sean outside of the web my name is Isaiah and I support your petition and guess what a petition is in order everybody else sits and waits for news on products coming back and nobody emphasis on nobody does anything about it they just accept it as it is well if you want it back than you need to realize what you are saying. come on now Sean is the only one so far that has done more than you and that is sad. because all he did was put it on a petition wall. Wow I am shocked and amused at you.

Completely off topic but I heard that someone had gotten really mad that Bachmann didn't make a G scale Gordon and what he did was he bought a HO scale Gordon and built him with live steam not sure if it is true but I wouldn't be surprised

Thomas & Friends / Ships
January 24, 2014, 12:23:24 AM
Okay I know this is the Thomas thread but I am kinda scared to head to the realistic Ho gauge stuff so I will just ask it here So I have been looking into it and I cannot find a 1/87 (HO) scale ship in a kit What did you guys do if you did a ship?
