Does this mean the steam loco's listed on the site will be removed when inventory is gone?

Dear Sheldon,

Very interested in a book copy. If you need, I can proofread it for you. I have a knack for grammer, etc and could help that way.  Electronics, no way!

Regardless, I am anticipating!  When do you expect to publish?

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Bill,

I agree with you, this is very impressive work!  Brian has given me several ideas how to build structures for my eventual garden rr.

On another note, if you get to ECLSTS this year, give me a ring!

Best Wishes to All!

Dear Guys,

Please don't try to "cross" my wife.  You will find out, as I have that you will be sadly overwhelmed!

Best Wishes,

Jack

BTW, Jim, great idea for the train room!

Dear Gene,

Wasn't the Berk considered to be dual service, too?

Apologies if I was supposed to call it something different, i.e. Mohawk or Kanawha!   :D

Dear Sheldon,

Now I know why the man who detailed my 1999 Suburban purchase told me not to remove the radiator cap to check the coolant level, just to add extra to the overflow tank.

To all our other friends, is it not amazing just how much we are regulated, and probably how much we need to be, when you see all the idiots out there, e.g. the guy who nearly ran me over in the McDonald's parking lot, or the guy who roared out of his parking space in reverse right in my path, etc, etc.

I am  not having a very good year dealing with people who are not responsible.

Best Wishes to All!

Dear Mr. Train,

As a suggestion, you might visit some local model railroad clubs to see what they do about scenery, track, engine and rolling stock, and power supplies and control systems.  Our clubs have extravagant stuff, but you will get some ideas what you might like.

A google search for your area will turn up some clubs.  Strasburg, PA has a nice LS line that the kids can run.

I like Atlantic Central's ideas about running a railroad, and will use a lot of them in my up and coming layout.  He is a forum member, and has said a lot here.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Adari,

You might talk to your local vo-tech school that teaches welding, or a local welding shop to see where they could send you.

The NS main line in Altoona is 141 lb to the yard, manufactured in 1971, up at the Coburn crossing, for those of you who know wherof I speak.  I have heard from a very good friend that he saw 160 lb rail in the Rose Yard.  I have not yet looked for it, but will this year.

I have a friend in the scouts whose father teaches welding at the vo-tech, who made a one ft piece into an anvil. It works great! And as Elwood Blues would say:  "Strong stuff!"

Best Wishes, and a Happy New Year to All!

Dear Sheldon,

For scanning stuff into a computer, you might consider contacting your local Vo-Tech and talk to the electronics instructor, who I am sure would be willing to show you how to do it and suggest the right scanner.

For instance, my son's instructor is an EE and builds all his own stuff, uses computer controls for house electronics control like lighing, heat and other stuff with a generic program called "Rosie."  All the kids use it.  He uses a 52" plasma TV for his computer screen and has made it interactive with an electronic "pen" so the kids were drawing up a storm at the open house!

It sure beats Kinko's, and you can see all the neat stuff the kids are building for Christmas!

Too, this guy is so neat I am sure he would be willing to talk to you to walk you through it, sort of like to equally charged electronics guys who do not repel each other!!!

If you would like, you could contact me off-line to discuss it.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Hey, Bill!  How the heck are you!

Long time (like NEVER), no see!  Glad to see the outline of your son, now we know what your silhouette is like!

Very impressive videos.  Now I know what I have to shoot for.

Moving to new digs in January, and plan a small but expandable HO layout with TE system like Atlantic Central's, and a similar modest GR.  Perhaps we can discuss a good starting point for a diesel electric for a GR, and battery power.  I was thinking a GP-9 or similar.

Will get the stuff up on U-Tube, one hopes.

Merry Christmas to you and Family!

You guys have given me another item to add to my layout!

Just a brain puff here, but what about sprinkling a little powdered rosin on a beeswaxed line, to simulate the barbs?

Dear Sheldon,

Glad to see such nice progress!  Will your book be hard copy or an e-book?

Hope to get down your way the next open house(s).

Dear Bill,

Would you please contact me offline regarding a question I have for battery installation in a small G scale steam switcher with a slope back tender?  It is not Bachmann and I want to see if it is easily done.

Dear Jim,

Based on a conversatio with "Atlantic Central," I purchased a "rubber ducky" antenna which is shorter and less prone to damage.  I have not used it, but intend to get a small garden rr up next summer. Will share some pix with y'all, or "all y'all" !!!

Best Wishes,

jack
