Size DOES matter!
Smaller is better!
It you ain't got 2's, you ain't got no clues!
Got the blues 'cause you ain't got the 2's?
The 2" liberation front!
We march on Philly at sunrise. Two inches at a time!

To add to that -
If I was a decision maker at Bachmann, I would change the printing on the card (on which the 2 inch straights/90 crossing come)  to read - "Four 2 inch straights. Free 90 degree crossing included".

Tramp -
I'd say yes.
While the book has it's shortcomings, it's still a wealth of information for a newbie.
It can take you from start to finish in building an EZ Track layout.
If you plan on getting creative with your track plan, don't overlook the 2" straights which open up more plan opportunities. They just aren't publicized and they are included with the 90 degree crossing.
I look at it as buying a card of 2" straights and getting a free crossing instead of buying the crossing just to get the crossing.

I got my book yesterday. After posting the reply I had from Ehobbies, the book arrived three hours later.
I'm of mixed feelings about it.
Chris Lane and Lee Riley did a wonderful job of putting it all together with all the neat pics.
As for the substance, I'm disappointed.  I haven't read it word for word, cover to cover, yet, but I've "speed read" through every page.
There is not a single mention of 2" straights anywhere. There is a small pic of all the crossings that shows the 90 crossing with the 2 inchers, but no mention of the 2's. In the EZ Track list at the back there is no mention of the 2's, even under the 90 crossing listing. Why is Bachmann still trying to keep those a secret?
We've had much discussion on here about the value of the 2's in creating track plans and how they enhance the options available for track plans.
It does tell how to cut EZ Track with a saw.
It seems the book is meant to convince people to use EZ Track. The trouble is that the people who will buy the "EZ Track" book are the people who are already using EZ Track like me or just bought a Bachmann set. They sure get down on "flex track" in the book.
Only nine "new" track plans are in there. The other 17 are from the old book. A larger variety of track plans would better convince people of the merits of using EZ Track in obtaining the layout design they want.
The section on Cass and the number of pages devoted to it seems more like a commercial for Cass.
The information in the sections on scenery, wiring, and bench work is already available in a number of other books on the market, so nothing new there except for the newby to the hobby.
I guess I was anticipating something more like the "101 Track Plans" book.
As most of you know, I'm already a big fan of EZ Track and I would recommend it to newbys and those who just like looking at the pics and the layouts others have made.
This is just my opinion.
How about a follow-up book devoted just to EZ Track plans?

To add to what Bach Man said - Just keep an eye on the steel track and keep it clean as it can rust.

Sad to see it go. Harold has done a great job on here and on the site of providing info.

First counter clockwise. Then I could close my eyes for a couple of seconds and I could reverse it when I opened them. And again and again. I can pretty much reverse it at will by blinking my eyes. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 blinks.
On the other, I got 10 right and 8 left.

I hope y'all don't order anything that Billy Mays advertises on TV.
I looked into the "Awesome Auger" he sells on TV for $19.95. There are a lot of people who got really ripped off on the shipping and handling.
There's a guy named Kevin Trudeau who sells stuff on TV, too. My wife got sucked into that. They ripped us off and it took forever to get our money back.
I had to complain to the BBB and Attorney General.
One thing I learned is never, ever use a debit card to buy something off TV. People have horror stories about their bank accounts being drained and they can't get the deductions stopped.

Check the internet for "Old Tyme Village Freight" sets. They are probably the same as what you have.
You can find them for anywhere from $80 to $150.

My dad built a Lionel layout right after I was born. I got out of it in my late teens.  I got into it later in life because I liked the old time Wild West stuff being made. I'm getting out of it again because I'm getting burnt out on it and getting old.

The Santa Fe song was from the "The Harvey Girls" with Judy Garland. I remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid.

You shouldn't stretch the track because you will have a kink somewhere.
You can buy an EZ Track 90 degree crossing that comes with 4 - 2" straights. You should be able to make about any layout you want using 2", 2 1/4", 3" and 4 1/2" pieces in combinations to fill gaps.

Good job.
I've been going to try to figure this out because I know I've done it before.
I went looking for my #5 switches and I can't find them. When I took down the old layout, I packed them away somewhere. I really need to search around again.
