HO / Re: Making and Printing Decals

Sometimes when I printed decals I had to set my printer for "glossy" or "coated" paper. That may be the issue.

From reading the descriptions of both, I don't think either one is an automatic operating version.

I think the 46720 is for regular N scale track and the 44879 is the EZ Track version.

HO / Re: correcting a warped car
April 24, 2007, 05:43:17 PM
I have successfully de-warped model car bodies with hot water.....both plastic and resin.

I run a sink full of straight hot water in the kitchen.....submerge  the body and let sit for a couple minutes.

Get the cold water running.....(this works best in double kitchen sinks)....as soon as you take the body out of the hot bath, twist it into shape......but....go past the point you want it set at. Plastic has memory.

Holding it in the twisted position, douse it under the cold water and hold till cool. Use the counter top or a piece of glass to check flatness of lower edge or corners.

Repeat as needed until the body holds the corrected shape.  If you dont have an interior you could possibly brace the car from inside with strip styrene or even brass to add some rigidity.

If the chassis is flat, then once you have the shell tweaked, glue it securely to the chassis and it should hold. Not sure if you like to glue your shells down or not....just a thought.

On30 / Re: Bad luck with On30 Shay
April 24, 2007, 11:49:40 AM
I had a similar experience with a Bachmann HO Shay and a Climax. Same thing.....seemed like it was stuck....lights on and able to re-adress the decoder.......just no movement.

A flick with my finger on the side of the Shay got her going, and a rap on the bottom of the gear box, with a small plastic handled screwdriver, freed up the Climax.

Personally, I think it's just a sticky brush problem until these units get broken in. I have had similar brush problems on things like drills and even the alternator for my car.

Dear Sid,
800 numbers don't work from Canada, AFAIK.
Have fun!
the Bach-man

Just for a laugh I thought I'd try that 1-800 this morning.....it works from Canada....sometimes....lol.

Yesterday when I dialed it, I got a "number not in service" message.....this morning I get a message saying I have reached B'Mann service/warranty parts dep't and gives me a menu of options.

IMHO, the regular number is still the best way to talk to a human .

General Discussion / Re: ungluing glue joint
April 13, 2007, 12:08:36 AM
Did the pieces just crack or are they broken completely? Cracks in walls could be repaired by taping the wall section flat and flowing a little bit of liquid cement along the crack from the back side. Sorry to have created further problems for you.

Make sure your browser security level is set to accept the cookie from the site......also, when you log in, make sure to tick the box at the bottom of the log-in window that says "Stay logged in".

Windows seems to have done an update the other day that cleared out all cookies when it rebooted....I have had to go back and re-sign in at all my sites.

Hope that helps.

Another car tip......lol....

I have found the best way to pop old glue joints is to freeze the model overnight......take it out and immediately apply pressure close to the joint and it should "pop" right free.

I have dismantled many an old automobile kit like this.....even glue bombs can be restored.
