The GP40 included in starter sets is not "DCC Ready", as far as not having a plug-and-play installation method. However, the main PC board has six contacts labeled for track power, motor control, headlight and backup light, so you could install a decoder by soldering it to these points.

It is meant to stop/block the sensor and then reverse.

Hi Matt,

Are you operating the trolley at low or high speed? If the speed is set too high, the trolley may have too much momentum and overshoot the sensor, and trip it again when it reverses.
There is a slight buffer after the sensor is tripped to allow the train to get moving. Reducing the speed will allow the trolley to stop and reverse quickly enough that it should be able to get away from the sensor in time.

At the Railroad Hobby Show in Springfield, MA this past weekend, we at Bachmann witnessed a record one-day attendance of over 16,000 visitors. We don't believe the model railroad hobby is dying by any means!

From what I have heard about the situation over the past few weeks, the recent closures of certain retailers was the result of financial and management issues, rather than a lack of sales or customer interest. It is a very unfortunate situation, but the good news is there are still plenty of other retailers for hobbyists to choose from, and while there may be a short term impact, I think the long term future of model railroading is bright.

Sorry to disappoint, but the newest release of the 2-8-0 does not have any changes body and detail wise to the earlier Spectrum production. They have a non-operating scale coupler on the front.
