Well, I know some people i personally know were jealous over the flatcar i found at the train show so cheap. The luck keeps on coming for me! I found a red express coach, in perfect condition, for $28. Yes, I bought it right away. Now the problem is finding a brake coach to match for the same price.  ::)

Thankfully I got my second one at a train show earlier this year for $18. The lady had no idea how rare it was. NIB too.

Thank you Sparks! The couplers look very tiny compared to the Thomas ones. I guess I am used to all the modern rolling stock I have.

Just thought of another question. I have 2 HO layouts, one that is DCC for my modern equipment and my DC Thomas layout which has 4 controllers on all different loops. Is this engine DCC ready or can be easily hardwired to DCC? I am used to putting sound decoders in engines and would like to have this on my DCC layout and or a club layout in the future. My NCE does not run DC engines on 00 like Digitrax can. Thanks.

PS. JLK, what does that have to do with this topic?

As most of you may or may not know, I have been on the forum for a long time. Even though I do not post much, I still read most of the new posts on topics that interest me. That being said, I have never seen anyone talk about this, and I had no idea that this was even made. While I was on my Facebook marketplace, I saw a Bachmann Irish Railway set with a 2-6-0 steam engine with 3 passenger cars. The passenger cars are Gordon's Express Coach recolors and the engine seems to be one of the Bachmann UK engines in the Irish Green and Cream. It was for $80, is it worth that? From the quick research that I have done, It was only made for a very short time. The couplers on them match the Hogwarts and Toad's couplers. Can these be easily changed to match with my Thomas stock? I would like to mix and match the set with what I have. Something like the engine pulling a freight train and Edward or James pulling the passenger cars. I was never able to get the red and cream coaches for them and now they are going for $100 per car on ebay. This would be an awesome alternative.

Here is what it looks like for anyone else that hasn't seen it. Any advise will get helpful.

On the latest SoundValue engine with existing tooling (GS4, Berk, and SD40-2) they have updated the yellow LED's with a nice off white LED probably 4000 or 4500K. The change in color alone is a huge improvement. I would imagine the same for the Connie.

I could have sworn I gave the source of the picture in my original post but I guess not. The picture was posted on TrainWorld's facebook page. No other picture that I saw covered the Thomas area other than all the Large Scale engines minus Winston.

The York train show is this weekend so get ready for the Spring 2018 TCA video! Hopefully they will show Paxton up close like they did with Rosie last year.

On a side note, it really makes me wonder why they wouldn't have updated pictures of the express coaches if they do happen to be the same tooling. I also find it strange that they would still be on display with the bachmann layout at all the train shows since they were discontinued.

I haven't seen this mentioned much:

The Flatbed with Paint Drums has been discontinued for awhile, and when it does come up on eBay, it's for a ludicrous amount. There's clearly still a demand for the flatbeds, so just like the Express Coaches coming back, I feel like they should bring these back as well. The load could be the same or different for all I care, since I really just want the flatbeds themselves. If Bachmann wanted to make a new load however, they could have crates instead of paint drums, or even logs.

Thats why I was so happy to get mine 2 weeks ago for $18! I would love for it to come back out with maybe a pipe load. Plastic pipes would look great.

It has been a while since I have gotten anything train related, so I wanted to go to a train show. Sadly, I was out of town the date of the show, but my friend went for me on the lookout for some cool stuff. I got a text with this picture and nearly fell out of my seat.

Thats right, a mint Flatcar with Paint Drums for $18. I have seen this car go for $500 on eBay used... I was also interested in the Cattle Car even though I already had 3 of them. That was also $18.

I took the flatcar out of the box to go with the other one I have and I must say that Edward looks great with them!

Not trying to be a mod or anything... but this is like the 10th new topic you have made on the forum that really doesn't need a completely new topic. This is also news that has been out for a while. This could have easily went in the Everything Thomas post.

HO / Re: New Tooling for older Spectrum Heavyweights?

Less detail for almost double/triple the price of the spectrum ones? Looks like I will pass and just use the 6 pack I got for $100. 2 for $100 is crazy.

Still wondering if they are updated tooling or completely brand new so they match. Want to get them before the sale ends next week.

HO / New Tooling for older Spectrum Heavyweights?
January 14, 2018, 09:51:51 PM
At the last train show (1-7) I pickup up a six pack of the Spectrum series PRR heavyweights and I think they look great with my Bachmann 1361. However, when I saw that Trainworld had a sale on GG1's with sound for $89.99, I just had to jump on it. After watching the demo video of it on Bachmann's Youtube channel, I noticed that the announcer stated that the GG1's were running with newly tooled heavyweights with 4 and 6 wheeled axes per the prototype. But the Spectrum ones I have are just that. So I guess my question is, is this updated tooling or completely brand new tooling? The heavyweights in the video look identical to the ones I already have. I looked on the webstore and see that there are now sleepers that I do not have in PRR.

Another question then lies. If these are a brand new run of the heavyweights, will the colors match the previous run of the older Spectrum's? I would like to get them to complete the set and I am hoping they will match.

Thanks.
