I have had my 2-4-2T for about 6 years now. Have kitbashed it into a 2-4-4T and added constant lighting. It will easily pull 5 box cars up a 3% grade on a 8ft curve, providing the track is reasonably clean. Have found that it needs plenty of lubrication and don't go too slow over points with plastic Frogs. If I knew how to, I would post a few pics of it.

As I live in New Zealand we don't get the hot Goss on events in the USA. Any reason why Soundtraxx pulled the pin on Sierra for large Scale , and what are our options besides the expensive Pheonix sustems

Have you checked under the Tender to see if the Volume Knob is on and the plug to the Loco is in the correct place.

I had the same problem with a New Connie. First time I tried it it did the same thing. Turned out the Axle Gear had split . Easy to fix. Bachmann have a replacement which is the gear, axle and wheels.

Many thanks to all who have read  and replied to this thread.
I have had absolutley no response from the service Dept at Bachmann even though the " Bachman" has said he would pass on my request for help.
It would appear that one must be a US citizen to get any help from the Bachmann Service Dept.If I am wrong ,I apologise to all concerned.
I leave you with this thought, What percentage of sales are outside of the USA. Look after everyone Bachmann or you may find that when things are getting tough people like me may look further afield for our purchases.

A bit of a pity that I can't get a reply from Bachmann regarding the drive shaft problem. I have about $7000 worth of Bachmann Locos and rolling stock but  that would seem to be a small drop in the ocean for them.

Well Bach Man,

Still no response from the service Dept regarding the replacement drive shaft that was issued to fix the early Climax drive shaft problem.
                     Any ideas

Gidday there Okarito,
Yes, your problem is the same as mine and it appears that parts are very rare. My breakage was'nt the result of heavy breaking, it just fell apart. I suspect that the rear drive truck may have momemtarily lost power and that would have loaded up the drive train. There is no provision for the drive train to slip if there is a difference in power to both trucks.   We live and learn with these things.
My next project is to overhaul my Climax and the first thing that I do will be to hard wire the two power trucks together ,and like the Shay I have, free wheel the drive at the rear truck. The shaft must keep turning as it triggers off the sound.

                            Cheers

Cheers Brian,
Got it, but will give Bachmann a couple more days and then I will try the alternative.
