Bob

You might want to call Dallee directly and ask how best to install.  To help you better more information is needed.

1) what do you have plugged into the C19 socket

2) What power are you using on the track

3) What connections  have you made from the Dallee unit to the C-19

There are actually three variants of K27 used on the D&RQW

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%26RGW_K-27

The 463 and 464 are examples of piston valves outboard of cylinders.  This is the model Bachmann produced

The 456 and 458 are examples of piston valves inboard of cylinders

The 457 and 460 are examples of slide valve cylinders which were the way the K27s were shipped from Baldwin.

The Tenders for the slide valve cylinders were slope back so there would be more mold work to do to produce.  The inboard cylinder versions would only require a few different parts and would be relatively easy to produce.

Hopefully in time the Large Scale market can improve and Bachmann will decide to produce the K27 inside cylinder versions.

Great list

The only items that I think are missing are the C-19s.

If they do not have the older 2-8-0 trucks in stock you might want to ask about possible K27 tender trucks.

The K27 tender has two different trucks,  The early one has trucks that are plastic and are identical to the 2-8-0 trucks.  (the later are metal)  You just need to use the side spacers from the broken 2-8-0 trucks.

Hope that helps.

Greetings
First, hey Bach Man. I love this new loco. I'd like to add it to my JMRI roster, but the decoder shows up as not listed. Also, I can't an instruction sheet for the decoder. Can anyone help me with the decoder instruction sheet. Also, if anyone has the xml for JMRI, it would be a BONUS.

Thanks

The decoder in the EM1 is a new 3 function decoder (outputs A B and C) and I do not believe this decoder is available as an after market product.

While Bachmann designed and manufacturered this decoder specifically for the EM1, the chip on the decoder is basically a Lenz Silver decoder without RailCom support.  The JMRI Lenz Silver (not Silver +) is likely the closest.  Note also however that the JMRI xml is missing quite a few CVs for most of the Lenz decoders.

This particular decoder has excellent back emf while the standard Bachmann decoder does not.

Hope that helps

Thank you.

Do you know which solder points on the main board I should use for my power and ground to work the Phoenix sound board?

For the PB11 V6 make the following connections

Pins 1 and 2 on your PB11 go the the track which is J1-1 and J1-11

Input trigger 1 (pin 12) goes to the locomotive's chuff output

If needed the trigger ground (pin 14) goes to the locomotive ground (-)  Likely not needed

That is all there is to it

Best is if you remove the DCC board from the socket and replace it with a dummy board.  Call service and ask for a dummy board from the C-19, the Forney, or the 2-6-6-2.

I have many of these lying around and you can have one for postage if desired.

The connections for the power, signal and chuff are all on solder pads on the side of the main board or you can wire the the Phoenix to the Dummy board.

Hope that helps

Rather than dealing with the built in chuff on my C-19, I just mounted a reed switch on a tender truck bar, and mounted 2 magnets on one of the tender axles on the front truck.  I normally always mount the chuff mechanism on the tender truck because I know how reliable that trick is, and I didn't want to risk problems with the circuit board.

I hope this helps.

Chris.

The C19 is designed to work effortlessly with the Phoenix sound system.  Simply connect the power and DCC wires,

For the chuff simply connect the one chuff wire from the Phoenix to the C19 chuff output.  Since there is a chuff sensor in each cylinder you can set the square of the locomotive to be whatever cadence you desire.  As delivered it is in square.

What part exactly do you need.

Also which Climax, First generation or lastest version

The reason I ask is often they have the part but it is in a much larger assembly.

Stan,

I have no interest in calling parts or service at this juncture.  Both have either not answered queries (phone and email), or just plain lied to me.  Give me a real good reason I should believe anything they tell me?

You likely got the best information they had at the time.  I contacted them as well on this part last fall and I believe they honestly believed it would have been here long ago.  If you have not noticed a lot of product delivery dates  has been pushed back lately so I am not surprised in the delay for this part.

As with all manufacturers, I have had the best results by calling them and then calling them back about the time they say the part will be in to get the latest information.

I have several new NWSL 2-8-0 gears I can sell you at 1/2 price plus shipping but I prefer the brass ones and calling them is the best way to get one.

Hopefully they will get enough soon to sell them on their WWW site.

Hope that helps

Well, I have to say I am now getting real dis-appointed.

I started this thread requesting information on the pending availability of the Consolidation replacement axle and gear back on July 10th of this year.
My next post with some tone of dis-satisfaction came on October 4th, almost 3 months later. On October 5th the Yardmaster posts with a name and phone number inside the usual 800 system.  A call to that party resulted in being told the 'parts are on the water', and should be here in 4 to 8 weeks.  I cordially requested that she please keep us informed here on the forum.
Here we are, January 1st of a brand new year, and I do believe there never will be any new parts. As has been said by others, they have our money for the defective units, why should they care? I am to a point I will fix what I have and will not purchase any new motive power from Bachmann.  It is truly a shame that the American manufacturer (if such really exists) has so little regard for their customers.

RIP Bachmann.

Best to call the parts department directly.  I understand they have a few or will shortly have a few in stock for customers who are having problems and more on the way in a container.

I have found that often they get enough parts for customers who need them but not enough to post the parts on-line for general sale.  The reason is simple.  A lot of people (me included) purchase a lot more than they need at the moment and when a part is in short supply it sometimes is best to keep them on hand for those that really need them now.

The EM1 has a 3 function decoder that is very similar to the Lenz Silver decoder.

As Kevin pointed out the Aristo unit does not provide voltage out the + and - pins as the specification requires.

If you are using battery power the work around is to connect the battery + and -to the locomotive + and -

If you aare using track power then you need to install a rectifier with the AC side connected to the track and the +- output connected to the locomotive +-.  The solder pads are labeled for making this connection.

That will allow control of the motor and the front/rear headlight.  To control the other functions you will need to connect the Aristo function ourputs to the appropriape solder pads as Aristo does not connect their functions to the pins on their board.

The socket diagram that came with your locomotive should help with these connections.

Hope that helps
