HO / GP-40 dummy improvments, decoupling?, weight, UP
December 11, 2009, 04:39:58 PM
Hi I just got 2 sets of UP GP-40 loco dummy caboose sets. (New old stock)
I love them!!!, running them under the xmas tree.
Plastic hand rails are kid friendly.
However if I run the 2 powered units and one dummy consist the two powered units eventually run away and rear end the caboose and the rest of the train LOL
I think it usually happens right where I run the power wires under the EZ track.
I'll try and grade the whole thing properly tonight.
Are there beter couplers I can get?
Also it seems the dummies are really really light. the caboose seems to be weighted and weighs much more than the dummies.
This seems to contribute to the problem.
Should I weight the dummies and if so whats the best way.. I saw someone put modeling clay inside and said that worked.  I was thinking some of my kids playdough and some led crossman pellets?
Of course a sound system would be nice some day in the future.
Maybe add some lighting later too.
Thanks in advance you guys have been awesome for this newb.

HO / Shell removal replacement steam Mogul 2-6-0?
February 12, 2009, 01:48:58 PM
Hello All,

My steam loco Mogul 2-6-0 PRR started running "erratic", chugged, stalled etc, cleaned out the motor and it runs like a swiss watch again. I Love it, but How do I get the shell off and on safely so I can clean it properly in the future? Does this void any warranty?
Also I blew it out with "plastic safe" electric motor cleaner for my RC car is this a bad method?  Seemed to work great.

Thanks in advance,
Richard

HO / Noob question on tandem engines and road numbers
January 28, 2009, 02:24:02 PM
Can I order 2 UP GP40's with different road numbers and run them together?
Is tandem the right word for this?
OR do you apply road numbers yourself?
Or do only more expensive engines come in different road numbers.
Do they then have different Bachmann part numbers?
Can you run 2 non DCC engines with one backwards can you/how do you rewire one?
Should I run one analog and one digital? Can you set the digital up to run backwards manually without full on DCC support.
I'm still learning.  So far I love all my Bachman products.
I searched all over on how to run 2 engines yesterday, couldnt figure it out, then whent home last night and just hooked up my 2 F7A units and they ran great is this correct?  LOL
I'm basically debating wehther to get the set with a dummy GP40 and caboose or 2 seperate engines.
