I have the Bachmann BNSF GP38-2 and would like to convert it to DCC.
Which decoder should I get for the engine?

Thanks,
Sean

A Bachmann locomotive like that should already be DCC, just no decoder, so you shouldn't  have to buy a decoder to turn it DCC, but what year is it from?

How can it already be DCC but not have a decoder?  If you don't have a decoder, one will need aquiring.

Dear Gene,
Some of the Standard diesels have the decoder built into the PC board, so they're not removable. Sean, the DCC Onboard version is so affordable it may be a much better option than a conversion.
Have fun!

All- Thank you for all the responses.
I bought the set this last September, its the BNSF Ironhorse set. To the best of my knowledge it is NOT DCC.
I have removed the shell many times and I see NO pc board.

Bach-Man, could you advise me as to the part number for the engine that is already DCC onboard.

in my orig posting, I was looking for a part number OR help for picking the right decoder.
Thank you all!!!!!!

Dear Sean,
There is no BNSF GP38-2 in the catalog this year. There is a Santa Fe unit, Item No. 61101.
Have fun!
