What is the difference between 46720 and 44879?  Will 46720 lower the gates when the train passed by?

WoundedBear

From reading the descriptions of both, I don't think either one is an automatic operating version.

I think the 46720 is for regular N scale track and the 44879 is the EZ Track version.

Dear Conradin.
Both are N Scale. 44879 is the operating version.
Have fun!

It appears #44879 is the type that holds down the gate via a spring under the base, holding it down as long as a car is in the crossing.
AFAIK Bachmann no longer makes any standard N track, it is all EZtrak.

The #44879 is better looking with the crossbuck/gate combo found at most grade crossings.
