Old vs new 2-8-0

I'm about to acquire a Missouri Pacific 2-8-0 from way back in the Jurassic period.  I'd like to know if the present edition of the 2-8-0 has an improved motor over the motors from these engines made at least 25 years ago.  If the present motors are that much better, I'll get a sacrificial donor new one at sale price and put my MP shells on it.

Hi Trainman,

The more recent DCC Sound Value and DCC Ready 2-8-0s have a completely redesigned motor and chassis compared to the earlier releases. However, performance should be comparable between the two and the shell should be interchangeable between the old and new chassis.
