Any idea when cusomters will be able to order parts for the new Dash 9?  When will you have shipments arriving stateside?

Need to order sun shades for the windows as I've broken one already.  :-[

You can get the motor blocks now.... not sure what other spares exist

the web site is not updated to reflect the motor blocks.

Yes I know those are available through the dealers.  Need other parts for my new and older Aristo units.  Thanks.

More clear answers:

you can get (some) parts now
there is no updated listing on the Bachmann site
I get it you want other parts (don't we all!)

Maybe a Bachmann employee can respond to give you the help you need.

Also, perhaps GLX has some parts you need.

My experience with parts is that they will try to help even with unlisted parts. They did for once. Many times they could not help and were honest about it.  I always thanked them even when I didn't like the answer. A little thanks goes a long way!

Hi all,

The motor blocks and certain other components such as the interface board are currently available by contacting the service department. Due to limited available quantities, other Dash 9 parts are being held by the service department for warranty repairs at this time. Please contact them directly with your request.

Thanks, I've sent the service dept an email to see if they have any sets of window shades available in the UP and BNSF colors.

Heard back.  Window shades are not available and probably won't be in the future as they will probably only be available with the shells.  Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me as they come packaged seperately and not assembled.  I'll have to either spend $24 a set with GLX or buy the USA Trains version and cut a slot above the window of the Dash 9 and glue that in.
These things break all the time and you would think Bachmann would bring a ton of these in for replacements.  Oh well...

Paul, since Kader made them when Aristo sold them, and Kader makes them now that Bachmann sells them, I would make an educated guess that their "policy" on making parts is the same (with the smaller market, I doubt it has gotten "better" for "us".

In Aristo times, spare parts that were not "consumables" were only made at the time of a production run.

Consumables were things like couplers, wheels, complete motor blocks, "skates", etc.

Detail items produced separately are not deemed "profitable"... and I cannot blame them.

I don't think you "got" my reference to GLX:
https://glxscalemodels.com/aristocraft-3d-printed-replacement-parts/diesel-and-gas-engine-locomotive/

They do have some Aristo shades, I did not check which diesel they fit, and none of the parts have color-matched paint.

It's just not practical to make these parts in a separate production run apparently.

Greg, I have ordered from GLX before.  Pricing for a pair of shades is kind of expensive.  $24 a pair is too much even for a 3D printed item.  I'll go the route of getting the USA shades and modify my unit.  Did the same with an older Aristo Dash9, SD45 and GP40.

Greg Elmassian

Yep, I gotcha, not cheap, but sometimes the only answer. For more complex parts, GLX can be a godsend.

Anyway, looks like all options are up.

We had a lot of discussions about parts during the heyday of large scale, and often it was cheaper for the "distributor" to cannibalize full locos for the parts. I know it was common for motor blocks.

Note that often USAT has shells for sale... (they sold the motor blocks)
