2-4-2 Lyn DCC Socket Pin 3 Connection (Aux1) and smoke unit

Hello all,

Does anyone have the answer to this, I have the G Lyn 2-4-2 with and ESU Loksound V5 and Pin 3 on the 8 pin DCC is an Aux 1 output.  This goes to a purple wire to the smokebox polarity switch but I can't figure out what it does after that.

I was wondering if it was connected indirectly to the smoke system but this does not appear to be the case.

I was thinking  I could set Aux 1 up to control the production of smoke.

Any help would be appreciated as nothing is mentioned or shown in the instructions and the wiring diagram does not go into detail.
