Master List ?

I'm new to the board and new to the large scale hobby, having just purchased my first Bachmann sets this holiday season. 

I picked up a Northern Lights set at Sams' Club for what appeared to be a steal of a deal at only $117.  Then I found this board and started reading.  Since then I've added a Wonderland Flyer set (#90045, I think) so now I also have an Annie locomotive. 

My question is this.  I often see reference to set ID numbers on Ebay and other online sellers, but for train sets that must be discontinued items.  Is there a master list posted or available somewhere, so a newbie like me can find info on the different sets offered over the years, or for example, if I purchase a caboose from set 90028, can I look up set 90028 and find out what other cars belong to that set?

Sorry to be so long winded.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Not speaking out of school, I hope, but if you can't get a master list by number... which I'm guessing would be difficult.... you can ask here about a particular set by name, and there's a large probability that someone will recognize it and speak up!

I am curious about the Christmas or Holiday sets that have been offered over the last few years.

I have noticed references in other threads to the annual Sams' Club sets,  indicating they have been offering limited edition Bachmann sets over the last few years.

This years' set is the Northern Lights and I believe the 2006 set was the 2 in 1 set with the NP&S passenger coachs and trolley car.

Could someone tell me what set was offered in 2005 or 2004?

Newbies like me are always such pests!  All questions and no answers!

This is the Sam's set offered in 2005.



The 2005 set was lettered as North Star Express.



This is the 2004 Sam's set. It was lettered as North Pole & Southern.  This is not a very good picture.  Not shown is a Combine decorated for Christmas.  It was packed at the top of the box and I didn't get it in the picture.

Loco Bill has an extensive list of sets.  He should be able to provide additional, factual information on most sets offered over the years by Bachmann.

Thanks so much for all your help folks.  I've been trying to find information on the Holiday sets since I first became aware of them.  I was reluctant to ask on this board - in my limited experience with other message boards - well, I'll just say sometimes people can be a little less than friendly to new people and their simpleton questions.

It looks like the 2004 set might be the same as the current Wonderland Flyer set.

They sure look to be the same.  I've only the pictures to go by.

The 2004 set has a 04 built date on the box car.  In the 2007 catalog it does not show a built date on the box car.  There may well be a built date on this car. Have not seen it in person.

Either way, the 2007 catalog set #90047 is good looking.

There are also special sets for particular chains--Sam's Club and Orchard Supply Hardware are two  major ones.  BTW--OSH has great train calendars for those close enough to get to a store--which I am not--someone is getting some for me..

Looks like most entries wiil be three lines starting with the Bachmann Item Number, Reporting Marks, Intro Year The $ amount is the original MSRP.  There will be various notes when applicable.    Some items have no number or two digits, because they they were only in a set

Bachmann made two North Star Express sets one is not a Christmas.

There are three 90047 Wonderland Flyer some variations exist.   

There are many other variations to numerous to mention.

I am open to questions on the above,  but please study the list in detail before asking.   Having said that I still believe there are no dumb questions!

Milk and cookies are out and I have to go to bed so Santa will come!  It will be my grandaughter's first!!!

WOW!   I had no idea there were that many Holiday / Christmas sets produced over the years.

Initially, I thought it would be fun to try to collect all the different holiday sets.  I wrongly assumed that just a few different sets were made.  Looks like it's time for plan B.

Thanks again Bill for providing / sharing that information.   That's a lot of information.  It appears one of the first things I need to do,  is to learn how to tell a Walshearts valve gear from a stephenson valve gear.

Stephenson:  Well, can't find an animated one, but it doesn't have the slide for reverse and the outside eccentric crank; it's located inside, so you get a much simpler looking engine outside the axles and frames, like this:
