Hi,

I've got a set of second hand Bachmann Amfleet Coaches. One of the coaches has an issue though.

The axle going through the wheels is too short and the wheels fall off. Looks like someone tried to fit a NG axle to a Amfleet coach for some reason.

I've got some pictures attached of both sides of the Amfleet coach to show I'm not crazy. The previous owner claims this coach has been like that since new. Considering the cars say Bachmann China, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

How do  I get a replacement set of wheels for my coach?

I found this from a Sep 24, 2018 post -

"I need some wheels for the amtrak amfleet passenger cars. I can't find any in the parts and service info area on this site. I don't care who the manufacturer is. Also what is the size (real world) of these wheels? Thanks"
"J3a-614: I don't know if the axle diameters are right, but the right wheel diameter (36-inch) is available with flush axles, and with three tread widths from this firm.

This is the "stock" wheel width that Bachmann sells.
36"/110 Flush 2.0 x .797 axle (4) 37128-4
This is a somewhat narrower wheel, which improves appearance but is still able to run on most commercial track.
36"/88 Flush 2 .0 x .751" axle (4) 37228-4
This is a true scale width and small flange wheel, but it will require track to match.  This is what is also called Proto:87.
36"/64 Flush 2.0 x .751"axle (4) 37627-4"

Hi,

Those links to Northwest Shortlines are dead. Guess I will need to contact them.

My thoughts are,

1, Find a damaged car to steal the wheels off of.

2, Scrap this coach and just find another Amfleet to replace it.

3, Find wheels from 3rd party source.

Bachmann not supporting their stuff is pretty annoying! I hope they read these boards once in a while.

The first two NWSL links are 'http' and no longer work because NWSL has switched to 'https'. Adding a 's' to the link doesn't do any good because the catalog information has been moved to a different location on the web page.

Just entering https://nwsl.com will take you to the home page, you can access specific product info from there.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.
