I think that Garrett's were called "crocodiles ".

Good news WoundedBear: the pics are all working!

And Trainman:  I thought that crocodile referred to the GG-1s...

Those sure are some odd looking ones. I can see all the recent pics.
Feel like a Mogul.

That's why they were called crocodiles.  I wonder why they didn't catch on in North America.  They look like they could have easily had the cab rearranged to run tender first, and be as good as a cab forward in tunnels.

Baldwin Locomotive Co had the rights for North America to build the Beyer-Peacock Garretts

American Locomotive Co had the NA rights to build the Kitson-Meyer, one proposal for the Southern Pacific was for a 4-8-2+2-8-4, with a  seperate 12 wheel tender, with a total weight of 352 Tons.

74 Kitson-Meyer engines were built, 68 of these were narrow gauge, ranging from 2 FT 6  inch to
1 Meter gauge. My personal favorite articulated engine rather the Garretts. I will admit I do have a
OO scale LMS 2-6-0+0-6-2 model. Also working on building a 2-6-0+0-6-2 Kitson-Meyer.
