I finally get to start the Garden Railroad  ;D
So this weekend I was at the summer house in Rhode Island. I figured I'd have a little fun and lay down about 16 feet of track.
Theres a couple night shots and some shots of the following afternoon.
I can't wait until I have a fully operational line :D
I apologize for the quality of the night shots. Hard to focus in such dim lighting.

And the day shots...

Enjoy :) ;D

Nice work with the sand! Gives it a very 'neglected' feel. Thanks for sharing!

Still waiting for an E33 in N-scale

Looks like a REALLY little-used branchline ;) with the sand ballast, GG!  (They actually did that on the old New Haven Chatham branch on Cape Cod; it was abandoned in 1937, recently paved as an extension to the Cape Rail Trail - biked it this past summer).

A suggestion for night lighting - I shot this video using a 500-watt halogen work light to simulate "moonlight" back on Memorial Day weekend :)

The light fixture was actually 1000 watts  :o (two 500 watt fixtures on a tripod mast); picked up on sale a couple of years ago at the local ACE Hardware store for only $20! ;D  (Great for doing late-night track work as well!).   ;)                                                                 Tom

It gets a daily 4-5 car freights. I'm probably going to fit in passenger service somehow :P
I am experimenting with this dirt ballast and will see if I put grass seeds into the dirt that the grass roots may act as an additional anchor to the bed. Dirt ballast works well already when not in rain.
