Need to know how to use the "28 Speed steps". I have an HO 2-8-0 loco - DCC equipped and it does not work.

Hi, don't worry about the speed steps for now, place the loco on the track press the number three button the light should turn solid red, then turn the dial to see if it moves.

If the light is flashing press the function button then try the above steps.

If that doesnt work please come back and give more info,

Is the loco new or used? New the default address should be 3

Once you get the loco to move then you can press function the the button  control things like the lights

You don't need to know anything about speed steps with the EZ command controller as you can't read CV values nor change them with this controller. The only CV you can change is the number of the loco (1 to 9). 10 is reserved for control of a DC engine.

You've got something else wrong with either the engine, decoder or controller.
