Christmas express

Hi!  We just purchased the white Christmas express train. The train looks great, but we are having issues with the train running consistently. The first time we switched it one the train ran perfectly.  After turning it off and back on again, the train is no longer working.  We have checked the tracks several times to make sure the joints were secure...no luck.  Any advice? Thx!

Pretend you have just opened the box, and go over each instruction that came in the comic book instructions.  Recheck your track carefully and be sure there is nothing on it causing a short, like tinsel laying across the track.  Check the bottom of front truck of the locomotive and make sure the arrow on the truck is facing forward. Make sure the clip is firmly connected to the track and that the wires between the controller and the track are firmly in seated in the receptacles. If there is a short the power supply will automatically shut off to protect itself, after a few minutes the circuit will cool down and the power supply will operate as normal unless the short still exists.  Most of all don't panic and carefull check the instructions because 99.9 percent of the time it is some simple overlooked thing.

Good luck and have fun.

Thank you so much for your reply.  Ugg, we have reviewed and checked everything.  Re-watched the instructional DVD...nothing is working.  The train is brand new, working fine one second then just stopped. My husband is on hour 3 of trying to figure this out...so frustrating.  ah, the holidays!

I am sure it is very frustrating, but don't give up yet.

Sometimes the DVD instruction are harder to follow than the printed comic book instructions.  If you do not have the comic book instructions here is a link to them.  Try going thru them step by step and look over the trouble shooting part.

Does the light on the power supply come on when you plug it in?

When you turn up the speed on the controller does the light come on on the locomotive even tho the locomotive doesn't go?

Do you have a way to test the track to see if there actually power in the track when the speed control is increased?  a multimeter would work, or a simple voltage tester.  If so try setting the speed control all the way on then see what reading you get or if the light comes on.

There is a slide switch on the speed control for forward and reverse, try sliding it back and forth rapidly and make sure it is firmly stet in one direction or the other.

There are some switches behind the smoke box door, usually one for direction and the other for the smoke,  check to see if the direction switch is firmly set to one side or the other, it does not matter which side.  if the switch is in the center the loco will not run.

If all else fails return the set to the seller for a replacement.

Hopefully one of these thing will get it working!!
