Looks like I'm pretty much priced out of the model train new-item market thanks to the devaluing of the dollar via Washington creating a couple hundred billion of them out of thin air for the bailouts. Rising standard of living in China, increasing wages, and increases in costs of materials and energy are also factors.
And that's priced out of the market for new HO and On30 trains, let alone G scale - making me all the more thankful for what came my way at Christmas. And for the disability settlement in fall 2009 which financed the G that I got.

When HO boxcars hit $27 each that's beyond my current means, those means being Social Security Disability.

Good thing I long ago started scratchbuilding, and kitbashing from old and second hand stuff, my own quirky Gn15 minimum gauge and On30 trains and buildings.
Looks like that is where my model railroading future is going to be centered.
When all esle fials, go run trains
Screw the Rivets, I'm building for Atmosphere!

Also noticably absent from the G scale lineup is the Durango & Silverton Passenger set.  Glad I picked mine up last year along with a few D&RGW coaches.  Mike in TX
