Please tell me what size of a speaker would fit in this tender?  Is its interior molded/machined to take a speaker already?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I can not say if it's molded or not but if you go to the diagram listed under parts and service they show both versions. You may have to open it up to check as it's hard to believe they would two different versions just for the speaker.

Definitely an oval speaker. No idea on what size oval speaker.
The parts page shows a Class J HO scale oval speaker but no size indicated.
I have bought oval speakers from SoundTraxx and they come in a plastic frame.
I have bought 14mm x 25mm and 16mm x 35mm for HO scale. The 14mm x 25mm is mounted in a Bachmann oil tender that use to be with the UP 0-6-0.
My Bachmann steamers with coal tender all have 28mm round.

I have a 47x17mm speaker in mine. I'm not sure who the vendor is, but I got it at Caboose Hobbies in Denver.

My tender was not particularly set up for a speaker, but it wasn't too tough to mount it with a couple of bits of styrene and a few holes in the coal pile.

Thank-you, gentlemen.  I figure I can get a decent sized speaker in there, but I may have to mount it at an angle and craft a custom-fit enclosure for it.  The Lionel HO Challenger tender from a few years back has such an arrangement.

I appreciate your quick responses, and acknowledge the effort of Jerry's HO in providing links with more information.  :)
