Chuck,

One of the rules I learned along the way is "that the driving gear must be harder than the driven gear".

I haven't had a gear failure in 12 years.

You would be better off with NWSL #2226-6 machined Delrin gear.

Thanks Barry,

I ordered the delrin gear as you recommended and will install those. You don't know of a source for the driver axlebox springs by chance?

Chuck,

I checked out the Lee springs and found them way too expensive.  I have a lot of KaDee springs and will try to see if they will fit and are strong enough to do the job.

Barry,

I, myself, will be very interested in the results of your test.  Since I installed your drive, mine will rock from corner to corner.  I may have mixed the contact springs with the journal springs.  They sure looked the same.  I also have plenty of kadee springs

I've got a couple of Connies to tear down so should get to one of them, this evening or tomorrow.

The 4-4-0 also uses similar springs (which includes the 2-6-0, Mogul, Bachmann).
