installaing a DCC decoder in a Bachmann GP50

Does any one have step by step photos and text to install a decoder in this GP50 #61251 also what type fits the best, first time installing one and need assistance.

There is no easy answer to this one. The loco is not intended for DCC.

I'm pretty sure it will require some removal of the frame and you will definitely need to hard wire the decoder. There is not going to be a drop in option available.

This german N scale forum provides a decoder conversion for a Bachmann GP50 but I don't know if your German is good enough to follow the steps.
They used a decoder with 2,4 mm thickness and placed it in the hollow at a cabin side. Insulating the two motor contacts is easy done and power from both the frame halves as well.
With a minimum of tinkering skills and some experience in decoders and soldering you will do the trick.
I would say a Digitrax DZ125 will fit under the shells cabin side.
