The Bachmann Crane is a US model, and not in any way accurate to a British or Thomas crane.

I wouldn't use it.  ::)

Lets face it the only breakdown crane good for Thomas HO layouts is the one by hornby, and it looks nothing like the one in the classic series. It looks like you could make Rocky out of that one. I'm using a Pennsylvania breakdown crane but still it would be nice to have one that has a flatbed to go with so you could put engines ext. on it. and not the kind of flatbed found on the hornby model with wall type thing in the middle.

yeah the hornby one looks nothing like the thomas one, and they don't even make the sodor works unit car to go with it :(

Believe it or not though, it's more prototypical for British Railways

Isn't most Hornby Thomas product prototypical though.  :P Throw on a face and the livery and BOOM........ Hornby Thomas range... (Okay, maybe not the Express coaches, as far as I know.)
