This was caught about a year ago. Does anyone know the purpose of this being on a westbound?

I think the Midwest Railway Preservation Society owns this. I E-mailed them to see if this is theirs. If it is and they have an answer, ill let everyone know.

Hard to top an old passenger coach being drug by a mixed freight.

Jettrainfan,
That was quite a catch.

Growing older is mandatory but growing up is optional.

some possibilities
On its way to an RR museum.
On its way to a  private shortline for excursion service.
On its way to a shop for restoration, perhaps for one of the above.
On its way to the scrap yard.

Anyways, it was aboviously quite a thrill to catch what appears to be a Heavyweight on a mainline..even more if you happen to have a movie camera to proove it!

Clear Block

If it were to be going to a disgraceful demise, then why would someone go through the trouble of installing roller bearings on it.
I highly doubt CSX would even touch a friction bearing car with on a revenue freight.
Any how friction bearings are not legal for interchange and would need a FRA waiver.
