Administrators,

When I go to Users On-line, to see what everyone is reading, sometimes I see "nothing, or nothing you can see..."  Can I lock down my profile so no one can see info about me?

I also notice some users' profiles list posting statistics.  When I go to statistics about me, it says I have never posted.  Do I have to turn on something to keep track of my posts?

Just curious.  Thanks,

Respectfully,

Jonathan

I note that my statistics show no posts as well. I also have the same question.

A second one. I note that some members have an "email to" icon under their user name next to their posts and some do not have the email icon. I have my email address set to "hidden" in my profile but I still have the email icon next to my posts. How do I set that to not show?

Thanks, Robert

Guys - You got me thinking; so I checked my profile. It does show (towards the bottom) the number of posts I have submitted. Regarding the inclusion of your email address in your profile: I have one of the free email accounts - and use it exclusively for model railroad correspondence. I have never had a problem with a fellow model railroader...and don't anticipate any in the future. Sometimes it is better to correspond about a thread, problem, or posting off-line as opposed to taking up forum space. Probably your questions will be answered by the Bach Man.

BTW Jonathan - you have had some excellent threads and posts.

Dear all,

I remember awhile back someone asked about the post counter. The Bach Man replied that it had been turned off by the administrators. Don't remember why but my guess is because of the previous problems they had with the board. Awhile back, the board was spammed so much that all user accounts were deleted and everyone was forced to resign back up; At least that what I think happened. If I remember correctly it was a mess with ads and I think there was some links posted to pornographic material. I was a young lad (14 or so) and wasn't as involved as I am now. That's why if you look at my info it says I registered in 2007. I actually registered 3 years before that. I was inactive for awhile and then came back and everyone was not happy about having to re-sign up. Another part of the problem was that the Thomas fans and the serious prototypical modelers couldn't get along. That is why the board is now divided into sections and the Thomas modelers have their own section.

What I'm saying is: The board has come a long way and it had to go through a lot to get here.
I don't know anything about your email question. Sorry, but I hope I shed some light on why it is the way it is.

The problem with counting posts is that, some people want to get their post counts up, even when they don't have anything to say.

Post count don't mean anything anyway. It's what you have to say that counts.

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, guys.  Apparentlly, alot happened before I even discovered this forum.  I have no complaints.  Just wondering about little details.  Spent most of my career as an admin weenie, so I look at little things and wonder what they mean.

Enjoy!

Regards,

Jonathan
