I stand corrected. To operate as I describe, wires to contacts 1 and 4 must be reversed. Suppose the wires from switch to loop should really be other colors(e.g. blue and green) since they change polarity.The wires to the frog rails show polarity when turnout is switched to their respective routes.
The actual polarity of the I/C track depends on how it is connected to the other(Main?) loop.

I wonder if Dustin has his Wye installed and working yet?

Dustin?

Dustin,

"On the fly" wiring instructions:

Use Erik's last diagram for gap locations.

Buy an Atlas #210 "Twin" electrical switch, which swaps polarity to two different tracks.

Wire your power-pack "output to track" terminals to the input of the 210.

Wire one of the 210's outputs to the loop rails.

Wire the other 210 output to the main line rails.

The loop slider could be labeled "clockwise/counterclockwise" (or CW/CCW).

The main line slider could be labeled "eastbound/westbound" (or EB/WB).

Swap red/black wires at the rails if the opposite slider position is needed/preferred.

To wire a "safe to cross the gap" (polarities match) indicator, wire a 12 Volt grain of wheat bulb between opposite rails across the gap pair:

rrrrrrGrrrrrrr
     \
      B
        \
rrrrrrGrrrrrrr

r= rail
G = gap
B = bulb

Repeat for the other gap pair.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik

If your loco is too heavy to lift, you'd better be able to ride in, on or behind it.
