I was wondering if anyone knew if I could use other (3rd party) LED lights with the Woodland Scenics Just Plug lighting system?

Len

This is a 'Frequently Asked Question' on thw Woodland Scenics web site. The answer is, "The Just Plug Lighting System is made to be used with Just Plug products."

The system is based around a 24VDC power supply, and I don't see any adapter cable listed to use LEDs that aren't part of the system.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.

Thank you Len. I didn't ask it on their website because I knew what their answer would be. I would think that if there were any small LED's that are 24 VDC, they should work. I went with their system so I didn't have to build my one from scratch.

One way to find out for sure would be to cut the lamp end of a Just Plug extension cable off, strip the ends, solder to your LED, and see if it works or burns out. Just check the polarity before soldering.

Most smaller LEDs work off 2 or 3 volts, so I'd measure the voltage output at the plug before you try powering an LED with it. If it's the full 24v, I'd add a 2200ohm resistor in series with your LED to prevent burnout.
