Hi Large Scale fans,

We're aware that a number of hobbyists are looking for instruction models and parts diagrams for older Large Scale locomotives. We are actively looking to get these documents uploaded as time permits. Some of them are very old and must be located on our backup file systems, or the files have been lost and we need to locate and scan hard copies.

Please check our documentation page first to see if the documents you are looking forward have not already been uploaded: https://shop.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=documents&cPath=8

If you don't find what you are looking for, please reply in the thread below so we can add it to the "to-do" list and add them to the website.

We are currently working on adding the following:
-Two-Truck Heisler Parts and Wiring Diagrams
-GE 45-Ton Center Cab Manual, Parts and Wiring Diagrams

Thank you!

Hi Yardmaster & Crew,

A big thanks for this effort to add these manuals and diagrams.  Bachmann large scale steam locomotives have allowed many of us to model a part of railroad history that would have been impossible without the many historic locomotives you have produced. Looking back to 1988 it has been an amazing run for us large scalers.  The 4-6-0 Big Hauler started it all for those of us who were waiting for a US prototype locomotive in large scale.  The Spectrum Line has been nothing short of amazing. It has been a great ride and I am glad to have been along for it.

I have a bachmann shay pardee and curtain #11, 2 truck engine. Its a year old and I'm just using it. I need to reverse the polarity (travel direction) but can't find the polarity switch. Can you head me in the right direction?

Greg Elmassian

As I responded by email... no reverse switch... your "new" loco is not new, and it never had the reversing switch.

Furthermore, after a long conversation with a friend, you would really have to do a lot of disassembly of the trucks to re-wire to reverse them, since the track pickups are wired directly to the motors internally.

Can you reverse your other loco?

Hello Yardmaster,
Please add a wiring diagram for the Large Scale Spectrum 2-Truck Climax. I have this engine with a non-functioning rear truck. The front truck is working fine, and the engine responds to DCC commands with sound and front truck motion appropriately, but the rear truck is non-reponsive. Decoder is ESU 5 XL Thanks.

Hello Yardmaster,
I am new to model railroading.  I need to remove the cab on a 38-ton 2 truck Bachmann Shay engine to replace a burnt-out cab light.  I also need to dissemble the front of the boiler to replace a burnt-out smoke box. Any suggestions on where I can either see videos or written info on how to do this.  Thank you for your help,
