Sound stop working,
should I try something before I send it in for service

And what else is happening?
Lights work, loco forward backward?
Running on DC or DCC?
You really should give more info.
I have had SoundTraxx power locos not responding to the trottle but never lost sound.

Usually do a decoder reset when things go bad.
Cv 8, enter 8. Recycle power.
Loco should run on 3 and with sound.
Let us know.

Yes, lights both work and loco runs forward and backwards on dcc but sound dose not work I tried resetting cv8 to 8 still no sound.

Sounds like a defective loco, speaker or sound part of the decoder. Could be a speaker wire came loose.
