The plastic truck cylinder holding the screw that attaches the truck to the frame has broken off on my 10th anniversary 4-6-0 (#81098). Can I replace the truck with the updated version of the pilot truck and pivot arm. Has someone out there done this and can you tell me the parts I need for the fix and if Bachmann has them.  I think Barry's trains had the replacement I need but apparently he has retired.

For fifty bucks plus shipping, you can get the whole chassis... then you'll have the replacement pilot truck, plus all the spares you'll need for years to come!  Here's the parts page with your chassis:

It's worth considering...
Good luck,

Barry has semi retired.  He has cut back, but is still helping us.  Just less web visibility.

It should not be a problem using the newer pilot truck.  Check the parts listings link above to see if they have it listed.  If not and you don't mind the older style Jays advice is best.
