Wiring Switch Track

Just got an N scale Durango set and bought a separate switch track to extend the layout slightly. The wiring diagram shows it should be connected to the controller but there's no place to attach it on this set. The manual switch works ok although the train tends to stall when its set to go through the straight track - is there anyway to wire the switch without buying a new controller? Any reason why the train tends to stop when going through the switch?

I have what I think is same problem/question. I know it has to do with short engines passing over the "frog" in the switch.  I am getting back into N after being gone over 30 years and catching up with the advances in technology.  I have all EZ track and about 30 switches, both plastic and metal frogs.  I want to continue manual operation of all these using the black direction switch provided by Bachmann.  Is there an easy, cheap device to electrify the frog and automatically change its polarity for DCC powered track?

If the train set You bought does not have a pair of accessory terminals...You should be able to find one easily enough

To power the frog I would just solder a jumper wire from each rail to the corresponding rail on the other side of the switch

There are several ways to power your frogs.  Your frog will need to change polarity.  Most modern switches have a frog power terminal. (I am not sure about the Bachmann EZ track switches.)  There is the Tam Valley Frog Juicers.  You can also use and Atlas snap relay connected to your switch controller. But you will need a good power pack to run the switch machines and snap relays.

Also take a look what Berrett Hill Shop have for controlling Bachmann switch machines.  There Touch Toggle system has it's own power supply.

Also note the 0-6-0 is not great at picking up power.  The first tender truck has power pickups.  But not near the same quality level as the tender pickups on the 2-8-0 and 4-8-2.   I do not have to power your frogs with these locomotives.

I do not power may frogs. The only locomotives I have that stall on switches are the 0-6-0 and 2-6-2. Also these are very difficult to convert to DCC, And do not run near as good as all the other Bachmann N scale steam locomotives.
