Hello everyone! I'm brand new to this so forgive me if I say incoherent stuff lol. I have much to learn. So, with the release of Bachmann's new N scale Thomas and Friends line, I decided that I want to make an N scale Sodor layout. I wish it could have been an HO scale on as I have a collection going already, but I just don't have enough space for one. Either way, I'm super excited for it! I should be getting my Thomas set soon. So, I've dedicated a 3' x 4.5' area for my layout and I already have the table for it. Do you guys think it's a good size to start with? I could possibly add some more later on. Also, given that there are no Bachmann buildings in N scale yet, I was wondering if any of ya'll had any ideas for this. Any kits that could be modified or where I could find information on how to scratch-build my own. Again, I'm new to this so I don't know much. If anybody has ideas or suggestions for making a Sodor layout in N scale, feel free to share for everyone. Thank you all!

Hi there, welcome to the forum.  I saw your earlier post and I forgot to respond before posting my review, sorry about that.

Anyways, I think 3 x 4.5' is a pretty decent size for an N scale layout since the models are already fairly small and you would have plenty to work with, or even expand on in the future if you would like.  For buildings, I personally recommend checking out the Graham Farish Scenecraft buildings from Bachmann UK as there are some decent options if you want to do a Thomas-themed N gauge layout.

If you still want building kits, one personal recomendation I have are the Peco ones as these are made in excellent quality:

Hope this helps give you some ideas.
Modeler of HO/OO, OO9 and N scale.  Hoping for HO Hiro, Narrow gauge Luke, and N scale Edward and Duck.

Something like this is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much, these will really help give the layout that Thomas feel. :D

Do you know if they have any roundhouse similar to tidmouth sheds?

It is wonderful to see more modelers who are interested in recreating locations from Sodor!

For an N Tidmouth Sheds, I would recommend the Heljan 6-Stall Roundhouse & Turntable, as the shape & size of both are very similar to what is seen on screen:

What other locations do you hope to implement into the layout? I can certainly help with finding more specific buildings for it
:).
Dreaming of a Bachmann Stepney.

I just found this website today.

They have HO/OO Scale and N Scale. Also, panels to build your own buildings and other structures from.

Thanks! These look really nice and they really are very similar. Hopefully, I'll get them soon. I'm also wanting to implement Knapford and maybe even a small area dedicated to Brendam docks. Any ideas for that? Thank you, I really appreciate it!
