Royal Blue 90016 Locomotive parts question

There is a replacement part that is sold out in the Bachmann online store.. Valve guard Model: 900XX-B0A01-1.. I need to replace one of those on my Royal Blue 90016 locomotive, but I'm not sure if that one is the correct one or if it will be available to replace anytime soon. I have the G scale 4-6-0 ten wheeler locomotive #1332. Thank you!

Hi

I see you have had no responses, so I will try to help.  Near as I can tell the part number you refer to is for  the Standard line 4-6-0 Big Hauler.   I can only recommend you give the parts department a call and see what they have to say about availability.

If they cannot help, I have two recommendations, one would be to buy a complete replacement chassis such as:

this is currently on sale for Around $45 and would give you a version 5 chassis to replace the older version chassis and It does have the simplified  Stephenson Valve gear like your royal Blue.  The downside is that if color is important to you you would need to paint parts of the chassis blue to match the one you have.

The other possibility is to go the the EBay site and buy a used loco with the correct valve gear and keep it for parts.
