I just picked up a used G scale Climax engine at a train show. It has no manual with it. I run remote control battery power. Dose this engine have a track/battery switch? Dose it have Sound. It has no road name or number, how old is it? any help would be great, thanks

None of the original run had sound.  This should at least let you figure out what you have.  Enjoy your new Climax!!!!

There are no dumb or stupid questions, just questions!

Pull the load off the bunker on the rear. If it's got a largeish PC board sitting in there with a smaller one plugged into a socket, then it's the newer version. Also, if it's the new version, the sand bins on the back of the bunker will come off, revealing 4 control switches. One of them is track/battery.

If it's the new version with the DCC decoder, I'd recommend getting a Tam Valley Depot DRS1 Hi-Power receiver for it.

You can then hook the battery directly to the DRS1, then hook the output of that board to the battery input on the Climax's PC board. Flip the switch to "battery," and you're feeding a generic DCC signal from the receiver to the already-installed decoder and you'll be off and running.
