DCC for Thomas

I'm still preparing to start the layout for my grandson this coming winter.
Friends and relatives have bought him Bachmann Locos, what system do you guys suggest I buy?
I am told that some of the Bachmann Thomas locos will be difficult to convert, is this true?
We would like the system to produce sound too.

It's only a matter of replacing the PCB in the loco with a decoder.  And soldering the right wires from the loco to the right wires on the chip.  The hardest part is fitting the chip in the small body's in the range.  I would recommend finding N-gauge decoders to put in the T&F locos.
