NEWBIE WITH A "4-6-0 COWCATCHER" QUESTION??

Hello To All,

Not sure what to exactly call it, but it's the plastic piece in the very front down by the track.
It's held on by two screws and has a coupler sticking out in the middle.
Does anyone make a better replacement piece?
Is there a parts break-down for the inside of the locomotive and the tender?
Again it's for the 4-6-0 locomotive.

Here's a photo of a Mississippi Central 4-6-0:



IMO, it would look just as good with the "cow catcher" removed as it would on.  A scale 12"x12" wood piece (maybe a tie???) attached to the frame (behind the cow catcher) would look more like a freight engine.

I know on diesels we modelers call them pilots, I've never really paid much attention to what they're called on a steamer though

I do not know of a "better" replacement, but there are two styles of cow catcher for the 4-6-0s.

There is a long one used on all the 4-6-0s with the oil headlight and the fluted steam domes and the short one used on the more modern 4-6-0s with the modern headlight and rounded domes.
