Will there be other road names for the new EMDGP7? Specifically looking for Southern. Not NS, just Southern. Road number not important. Thanks.

Hi Rusty,

We will make new product announcements in our 2025 catalog in late Janurary/early February and will consider your suggestion. Thanks!

I don't think any GP7's survived into the Norfolk Southern days to be lettered as such.

I hope that the early Missouri Pacific blue and gray wouldn't be too much to ask for. I know that Pennsylvania, New York Central, Union Pacific, and Santa Fe always sell, but it would be nice to get some other roads besides those overcooked ones sometimes.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.

To be honest, an early (Phase 1 or 2) GP9 looks more like a GP7 than a late (Phase 3) GP9. The New Haven GP9s were Phase 2.

Far all being the same, there was quite a bit of variation in the first generation diesels as railroads followed the steam era practice of buying small orders outfitted for specific jobs on the railroad. I used to regularly walk the boneyard in Altoona during the COnrail years and  it was amazing what all was in there. Almost nothing was what it appeared to be at first glance.
