This looks great and should hopefully for bachmann sell really well as the last of the On30 geared locomotives to be done.

Myself i really wanted to see a west side lumber type stearns heisler with wagon top boiler , but not to be  says Lee Riley.   Hopefully somebody like backwoods miniatures in England will turn out a west side type parts kit with all the piping , plumbing and some killer stacks.  I am already thinking about their front winch kit for it .

Nice job bachmann !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On30 / NEW on30 porters sound equipted......weight
August 17, 2010, 02:49:32 PM
There is a discussion going on , on www.freerails.com in the on30 section regarding the new porters possible pulling power up a 4-5% grade and how many cars it will easily pull.   miner49er is conducting the tests using his old porters.

The discussion is talking about adding weight too the porters to increase traction.

my question is to anybody that has a NEW sound equipted porter , what is the weight of the new locomotive.  Whats weight of old non sound loco ?

thank you.........madmike3434

I WAS TALKING TO PETER MCPARLIN AT BACKWOODS MINIATURES IN ENGLAND WHEN I WAS ORDERING THE SPECIAL TANK SETUP FOR THE 2.6.6.2 AND THE 3RD TRUCK SYSTEM FOR THE CLIMAX ALONG WITH THE WINCH DETAIL SET.
I MENTIONED THE WISEMAN WHALEBACK TENDER FOR THE 2.6.6.2 AND HE SAID THAT HAS JUST SENT OUT HIS WHALEBACK MASTER OF THE TENDER TO HIS RESIN CASTER.  I HAVE SEEN THE PICTURES OF THE COMPLETED MODEL ON HIS SITE AND VARIOUS GROUPS.   THE SUPER HIGH QUALITY RESIN PARTS ARE REALLY HIGH QUALITY IN DETAIL, FAR EXCEEDING THE WISEMAN OFFERING. ITS VERY APPARENT  IN THE PICTURES.
I AM A CUSTOMER OF BOTH SELLERS.

ACCORDING TO PETER THE WHALEBACK TENDER IS ONLY 4 1/2" LONG. HE THOUGHT THAT THE 2.6.6.2 WOULD SUIT THE WHALEBACK AND ALSO THE 4-6-0

Dear Mike,
Chris is correct- they are the shorting plugs for analog operation.
Have fun!

=====================
THANK YOU BACH-MAN AND CHRIS FOR THE REPLY.I AM ONLY OPERATING WITH REGULAR TECH 11 LOCOMOTION 1500 CONTROLER.

BUT I WANT THAT LOCO TO MAKE THE SOUNDS AS IT DOES AND IS FACTORY PROGRAMMED TO DO.   I AM NOT SURE IF I AM GOING TO PURCHASE A DCC SOUNDTRAXX SYSTEM TO OPERATE THE JUST PURCHASED SOUND EQUIPTED : SHAY , CLIMAX, 2-6-6-2 AND AM ALSO EYEING A FOURNEY . SO IS IT GOING TO DAMAGE THE LOCO AND INTERFER WITH SOUND OPERATION IF I DO NOT INSTALL THIS
"SHORTING PLUG" ?
FUNNY I DID NOT SEE ANY REFERENCE TO THIS LITTLE BOARD IN THE PRINTED MATERIAL OR MAYBE I HAVE MISSED IT ??

THANK YOU

I received my 2-6-6-2 tsumami equipted loco and runs fine and sounds good too.

My box was full of extra parts contained a ''''sealed plastic baggie'''' with what also looks like a small computer chip circuit board with tangs on it, 1/2' square roughly.

Reading all the supplied enclosed paper material i could find no particular mention of what to do with this part and if its necessary to the sounds or operation of this loco.

Does the BACH - MAN  have the answer to this or anyone ??????????///

thanks.......madmike3434 ---mike lynch --CANADA
