HO / Re: How Do You Power a 15" ( 15r ) Circle?

I just solder my feed wires to a rial joiner or, preferably, to the rail itself. Why would you use an unsightly terminal track on your model railroad?

Rye, that looks fantastic. I hope I get a sneak preview when the loco is painted.

HO / Re: Powering separate but connected tracks/trains

I have separate power supplies.  Could I simply "isolate" the two tracks at the turnouts?
I understand that if the second "line" wasn't powered up when the engine hit that spot it would die - but if the power was on to the second "line" the train would then continue onto that second track and then run off that power supply.

That's exactly what I did with my son's first layout. It was ez track with two connected loops. I used Atlas plastic rail joiners to isolate the loops. The only issue of concern is that we had to make sure the polarity switches on the packs were set identically. Otherwise (obviously) there was a conflict when the engine straddled the isolated regions.

found this by accident, a 130 foot turntable,,looks SWEET!

more from Walthers website

I have that turntable and it is fantastic. I happen to have a brand new bridge for the Walther's 130 turntable, if anyone is interested. It is complete with a drive. I don't see me kitbashing anything with it because I lack the talent.

The blue 760mm gauge steamer is awesome. That's a great link, LurchBird.

I hope they rewrite the code on that page. There are images over text, etc.

Great film. I've seen it before and did a little research. It seems that lots of the automobiles were specially hired for the film to make Market Street look modern and busy. Note that the same cars appear quite a few times.

The majority of the vehicles seem to have no purpose whatsoever, and their frequent, random U-turns are very suspect. It looks as if someone deliberately flooded the area with traffic but without first choreographing said traffic. Most of the vehicles seem to be there solely for the purpose of being there.

Here's a 1941 film of the same street. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzqs6DF_wGE&NR=1

And this one has 100 year's worth. I enjoyed watching the evolution of transportation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaXyxht-yCA&feature=fvw

I started to lay my track today . But what Im wondering is , is there something I can spray on the pea gravel to make it stick together .

also my dad gave me a couple of his LGB rolling stock can you change the couplers out to match up and make with the bachmann g scale rolling stock

Pea gravel has rounded edges and thus is disqualified from suitability as ballast. Chick grit, as previously mentioned, is ideal. You can still use the pea gravel under chick grit if you like.

I installed Bachmann couplers on my sons LGB cars without incident or modification.

The remaining loco's are complete with cars and I just switch them from a number of sidings on all 3 lines. This rotates the loco's so they all get run time. Thanks Again!!

I used to do something very similar. I kept entire trains on spurs in my freight yard; 14 of them to be exact. Now I just keep the rolling stock in the freight yard and the engines are in the new engine yard, which features a Walthers 130' turntable.

r0bert,

I had bookmarked a thread in which you posted some impressive water scenes. The thread now appears to be gone and the bookmark is invalid. I would greatly appreciate it if you'd share those pictures with me. I'd like to show them to my son.

Incidentally, I attempted (with two different browsers, mind you) to send you  a private message without success. I got the error message "The letters you typed don't match the letters that were shown in the picture." THERE WAS NO PICTURE.

My daughter is 16 and she Facebooks, Myspaces, and texts on her phone and Ipod routinely. None of that has adversely affected her ability to write, spell, or articulate a thought. She has consistently won Young Author Awards in school.

I don't buy the whole "Students failing because of Twitter, texting" notion. And that article is chock full of terrible grammar and phraseology.

I run (almost exclusively) EZmate Mark II couplers and have never has a moment's trouble with any of them (I have over 200 cars in the collection).
Ray

I use them (McHenry #51 sprung knuckle couplers...) also, but only until I have a chance to install a Kadee #5. Those flimsy plastic shafts are too thin and there is far too much slop in most draft gear boxes to actually KNOW what height your coupler will be continuously operating at, and they aren't valuable enough to bother shimming.

I've got two bags of those. I was hoping the "track locks" you were referring to were a product "that attaches to tracks and keeps them from migrating on carpet and wood floors when a train is running".

The LGB track ties you mentioned (I have those, too) won't work on Bachmann track.

Some easy release double sided tape would work.  After a check on the web, I found a product called track locks, both for straight and curved. They have them for LGB track and I suppose they could be used with Bachmann track as well. They hold the track together so they can't come apart.

Do you have the URL for this product?
