Could be your transformer. You need a "pure sine wave" to run properly in DC. If it is an old transformer or one with pulse power it would cause DC running issues.

This may help. you can use a an adapter cable to plug an eight pin decoder into the socket. You will however need to install a speaker and wire it to the decoder.

Butch - it sounds like you know what you are doing. My first instinct is always to do a factory reset on the decoder. If that doesn't work maybe have a look under the hood to see if any of the wires have lost contact with the board. The little black plastic wire holders on the decoder come loose sometimes. If you don't get results you should contact the Bachmann Service department for help. Call Laura Harris the service manager during normal operating hours.

This may seem like a dumb question but I assume you are aware that the reverse loop module only works for DCC?
