Is there signal sensors for the E-Z track, which enable the signals on an overhead signal bridge and track side signals to change as the trains approach a switch or crossing, if there is such a sensor which hobby shop carries them?

Why does both headlights comes on when the powered and non-power locomotive when they are going forward and both red lights  comes on while powered and non-power going backwards, is this normal operation or a malfunction?
