I plugged the red wire to the track.  Bachmann has a curved and straight terminal rerailer that has plugs on both sides that you can insert the red wire.  Here's a pic of my Bachmann 10" terminal rerailer (part#44820) with the red wire plugged in.

I'm not sure about soldering or welding to the track.  I think the terminal rerailer or under-track terminal would work best.

I have a recent post on my turnout experience.  I have 2 Bachmann #6 turnouts, the right hand turnout worked fine, however the left hand turnout (part#44859) had problems.  Thanks to the helpful advice from Joe Satnik and lesklar, I opened up the turnout and adjust the gear and rack.  Works fine now.  Overall I think the Bachmann turnouts are good (besides the tweak), I just wish that they had dcc decoders installed the turnout so that I could operate it from my dynamis controller.

Hi CCandR,
I sent you a response to your pm, hope it was helpful.  Similar to the replies that you received here, the turnout doesn't have a dcc decoder so you won't be able to activate the switch using your dynamis.  I had the same question a few weeks ago when I started to add the ez track turnouts to my small layout.  I was hoping that I could control everything from my dynamis but discovered that most n scale turnouts, regardless of brand, does not have this functionality straight out of the package.  Bachmann offers this in HO scale but not n.  For now I'm just using the little black lever on the side of the track to manually switch the turnout.  I was looking into the digitrax DS64 but don't want more wires everywhere.

 :)
Thanks everyone for the responses.    I spent the past hour examining the loco and the track carefully.  The last thing I did was to take apart the turnout and adjusted the rack and gear.  Put all of it together and amazingly it works fine now!  No more cutouts/resets on my sound.  It works perfectly now.
Thanks again, I appreciate all the helpful advice to try to solve this problem.

Hi,
You can use the red cable and insert the round plug end to the command station, and on the other end plug in the flat plug to the terminal rerailer track.  Here's a pic of my dynamis command station with the red wire that connects to the track:

For your question about 100-240V, check to see if it looks like mine below.  If it reads that the input is AC 100-240V then you should be able to plug it in to your wall socket in France (the only thing is that you might need a little adapter for the two round prongs instead of the two flat prongs for U.S.).  Here's a pic of my transformer that came with my dynamis set:

Hope this helps.

N / Help with short problem on a #6 turnout
February 10, 2013, 03:32:08 PM
Hi,
Need a little bit of help trying to diagnose a problem with one of my turnouts.  I'm running EZ track, dynamis controller and a Bachmann 2-8-0 that I installed a Tsunami sound card with capacitor.  I added two turnouts to my track, a #6 right and #6 left turnout.  The right hand turnout works fine.
I'm having problems with the Bachmann #6 left turnout (part#44859).  When my loco crosses the turnout frog area, it resets my sound decoder.  The strange thing is that if I run the 2-8-0 with speed 17/28 or higher it works fine.  There is no interruption in the sound.  However when it is 16/28 or slower the sound card resets.  I don't have this problem with the right hand turnout, it works fine with the loco running over it at any speed.  It's just the left hand turnout.  Visually I don't see any differences.

Here's a pic I took of my track.  The red arrow is the direction of the 2-8-0 and the red circle is the frog and once the wheels go over it the sound card resets.
Is there anything I need to adjust or tweak on the turnout?  I don't have it connected to anything, I'm just using the manual slide switch for now.  Thanks in advance for any tips.

I like the dynamis system because it fits my needs: easy to use and program, wireless, and lower cost.  It can program cv values but not read them unless you get probox.  I'm just running a dcc Bachmann 2-8-0 with a sound car, and will soon add a Bachmann 4-8-2 .
Here in the U.S., you can get the dynamis system for a reasonable price (I got mine from thefavoritespot.com):
http://www.thefavoritespot.com/p-2775-spectrum-ez-command-control-system-digital-dynamis-wireless-infrared-system-36505.aspx

I would recommend that you also check out other dcc systems made by NCE, Digitrax, and MRC.  These are more expensive but offer more features if you're expanding.
Hope this helps.

I've been using the dynamis system #36505 and it's been working great for me.  It comes with the track cables, wireless handset, command station, and AC power transformer.  So just plug it into your track and you're good to go.  From what I understand the Dynamis only works with DCC locomotives.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check into the DZ125.

 ???
For the 4-8-2, will a Bachmann EZ command 1 amp decoder be a drop in installation to make it run on DCC?  There's two decoder models listed in the Bachmann online catalog.  Part #44915 and 44926, the only difference I see is the size.  Both have the 8 pin plug, will it be drop in without soldering?   Which one would be a better fit?  Are there other decoders that you would recommend?
Thanks!

N / Re: N Scale DCC Turnouts?

I installed the #6 right hand turnout (part#44860) and it works fine on my DCC setup.  I'm using N scale EZ track with the Dynamis controller.  It was in the yellow packaging.
I can verify that power goes to both sides of the track regardless if I switch it back and forth using the little black manual lever.  I didn't hook up any of the wires so for now I'm manually operating the lever.  I'd like to be able to control this turnout from my Dynamis.  I started searching online and see that Digitrax has a DS52 and DS64 stationary decoder that supposed to allow you to operate turnouts via DCC controller.   I think this might be a good alternative if Bachmann doesn't offer direct DCC controllable turnouts.  Has anyone tried the DS64?

I'm new to N scale and currently running a Bachmann 2-8-0 (which runs awesome!) on EZ track with the Dynamis system.  Works great so far.  I'm looking to expand my figure 8 track and was trying to add more lines and a turnout and crossovers.  I agree with the original post, I would like to see a DCC controllable turnout and DCC controllable crossover.  From what I understand it's available in HO scale but not in N.  Would be nice to know if Bachmann has a ETA on this.

Thanks!
