HO / Re: DCC Chuggington
May 02, 2013, 12:57:18 AM
Hello,
Thank you all for your tips. I didn't know that N scale decoders could work on HO scale engines!!
I do have a bit of experience with installing decoders. We installed a decoder into our Bachmann HO Thomas engine, and that was quite a handful to do! We've done a few engines were soldering are required, and will do many more, as all of the Thomas engines share the same circuit board pretty much giving each one the same installation. The only problem is finding the space to fit a decoder!
So far, we've used Digitrax decoders. What I was wondering about mainly is not about installing the decoder, but if there might be a place for it to fit inside one of these new Chuggington engines!
Again, as they haven't been released yet, nobody really knows what the chassis looks like, but I'm hoping anyway to see if someone might know something.

Thanks again!

HO / DCC Chuggington

Hello,
This is probably not the question that the average user can just answer, but maybe a staff member at Bachmann could tell me?
How easy would it be to convert the Bachmann Chuggers to DCC? Is there enough void space in the engine to fit a decoder?

Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Williams on Fastrak

@Lee
A CW-180 is a new transformer that Lionel has started making. It is a 180 watt transformer with an accessory plugin on the back (which my current CW-40 doesn't!) and it comes with a seperate powerpack and circuit breaker.

Turns out that I had a 40 watt transformer that came with the Thomas the Tank Engine set in 2008 or 9. We've ordered the GW-180 (180 watt transformer with circuit breaker) so that should  be enough to power it all. I found it strange, too as our 40 watt one doesn't have an accessory plugin. The ZW-L is just too expensive and we aren't far enough into the hobby to get an MTH or Williams transformer.

HO / Turntable Shorts out Switches
December 06, 2012, 08:13:12 PM
Hi,
I have the HO Scale Tidmouth Sheds roundhouse with turntable on a DCC layout. We have the mainline split from one track into five sidings and then link onto the turntable. The track operates fine when it's on the centre track, but when it turns to another track it causes a short circut. We installed a Digitrax AR1 and it still did the same thing. We then replaced the Powerloc switch that was shorting out with an Atlas switch. There was no more short circut, but all the Powerloc switches started buzzing.

Could somebody help me solve this problem? Is it the turntable or Powerloc switches?

Thanks.

Williams by Bachmann / Williams on Fastrak
November 24, 2012, 08:58:32 PM
Hi there,
I bought a Williams by Bachmann Baldwin Sharknose today in O scale and took it home to my Fastrak layout. It slows down on the 0-36 curves and when pulling the two dummy units it sometimes stops altogether.

Also, the light on my 80 watt Lionel Controller blinks on and off when it goes at a certain speed or pulls weight. If it blinks for a while, the train stops altogether. Can somebody help me with these problems?

Thanks.
